Because I don't use preservatives in my cookies, they are best eaten within a few days of baking. Ask me about those that have a longer shelf life.

Chocolate Cherry Brownies

Chocolate covered cherries have been a popular gift box candy for years.  Some are filled with cream; some with liquor.  I chose this candy as my inspiration to make these brownies.

These are my favorite brownies.  Rich chocolate.  Bursting with flavor from the juicy cherries and nuts.  And a hint of liquor.  Mmm, these have always been a hit with everyone who's tried them.  You should try them too.

Meringue Roses

Delicate, crisp, airy puffs of sweetness.  Meringue cookies are a class of their own.  I've added a light raspberry flavor and piped them into lovely rosettes and sprinkled them with some edible glitter.  Can't give flower?  Give these lovely roses for a visual and edible treat!

$3 for SIX roses

Meringues are GLUTEN-FREE

It's like crunchy cotton candy!

Strawberry Flips

Today's Valentine's themed cookie is the Strawberry Flip.

I saw pictures of this cookie and thought I had to try my spin on it.  This one certainly looks more homemade as the strawberry centers are not exactly easy to regulate.  Strawberries come in various sizes, but their slight sweet-tartness tops off this cookie beautifully.  The cookie is fortified with extra strawberry flavors and the crunch of walnuts.  I think the dusting of powdered sugar gives it a lacy feel.

Strawberries seem to be the official fruit of this holiday.  I see them everywhere:  candy stores, Pinterest, bakeries.  Well, here is my offering.

The first of the Valentine showcase

Today I started my Valentine cookie display.  I started with a Red Velvet Cookie.

Silky chocolate cake-like cookie with some chocolate chips here and there, topped with a cream cheese frosting.  Very pretty cookies and they taste just as good as they look.

I love red velvet cake, so these cookies were definitely near the top of my list to make for Valentine's Day.  I ran out of red food coloring, so they aren't quite as red as you would expect.  But it's just coloring anyway.  It doesn't change the flavor.  Makes me wonder why it was ever colored red in the first place.  Sounds like a topic for me to research.  Regardless, red cookies made sense for the upcoming holiday.

$10 per dozen Red Velvet cookies

I printed up a flyer with pictures, descriptions, prices and an order form to fill out for all the Valentine's Day themed cookies that I'm doing.  I left it with today's free samples at the concierge desk at DelRay Tower.

Check back soon to see what other samples I'm displaying at the concierge desk.

Spicy!

What happens when you take an ordinary, buttery, peanut butter cookie and add some Asian hot pepper paste?  Spicy peanut-y goodness!  I've got samples at the DelRay Tower concierge desk, so come try them out.  Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Happy Munching!

Still buttery and sweet, and that nice lingering kick.

Just a pic of the regular cookies for comparison.
You can see the lack of that spicy orange color.

Woohoo! A contest!

So I entered my first cookie contest.  Barnes & Noble had a Cookie Bake-Off and I created a new cookie.  For the first time, my husband and I just had Sticky Toffee Pudding as a dessert on a recent dinner out.  It was so good.  Then I saw the entry form at a Barnes & Noble the next day.  I knew I needed to make this yummy dessert into a cookie.  After a few attempts, I finally came up with my entry.  I hope I at least make the top 75, so I'll be published in their cookie cookbook next holiday season.  I'm excited.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Mmmmm!  Toffee glaze!
